Matt Reed

History

As a baby Matt was born in West Virginia. Shortly after, he was transported to K-town, TN where he grew up listening to Def Leppard and Eazy-E, longing to be a fighter pilot. He once told his 3rd grade teacher he found a new way to do subtraction. She said, "No, you can’t do it that way" so he walked out of class never to return. From that point forward Matt questioned everything. He knew he loved his NES and rolled deep on a 286 powered by GEOS and Prodigy.

In his later years he showed up to college and tried out for computer science but failed poorly. This was nothing more than a speed lump in his quest for creative enlightenment. This drive drove him all the way across campus to the Art building where he found his way in Graphic Design. Happily he graduated and moved to Nashville, married his awesome wife, and had the privilege of helping build a web design company from the spare bedroom of an apartment into a 12 person super-crew powerhouse. He now resides as a professional internetologist exploring the human potential of technology at redpepper.

Is there more? Well, yes, there is this whole paragraph. Now, look at my social media networks! Did you see what I just did? You can't not look now! Action words make people do things they normally wouldn't. Here, watch this, click this new link I just made to my Twitter. Here's another one to the Facebook. Boom! Lady GaGa punches Justin Bieber HAAAARD!!!

That got your attention didn’t it?! Crafting smart attention-getting headlines is a must-have skill on today’s internet. This post has over 131k views because of the headline and I just posted it! I’m pretty excited about this response to say the very least.

Let’s think about it for a few minutes. Let’s pretend you were wanting to go read some blogs about Justin Bieber so you went to Google and typed in “I want to read about Justin Bieber” and clicked search. I bet you get a few dozen results but of course the best ones are at the top every time (read my post SEO out. SEA in to find out how to get to the top).

Now, you notice two Google search results that are looking like things you want to click on. One is called “Justin Bieber walking across the street holding a cup.” The other is “Lady GaGa punches Justin Bieber HAAAARD!!!”

Which one do you click on? Yeah, now you get the point. Everybody is going to click that later link and if you have Google’s adsense (<- I made a link to it in there for you) on your page you will get tons of clicks and impressions which will make you tons of bank!!!

Bonus, after people get to your site your webpage can be about things you are selling. The trick is that you just use the headline to get them to your page! It works soooo well and people end up loving what they’re reading because they come to your site in a good mood because they’re thinking about Justin Bieber being punched.

It’s obviously in your best interest to craft headlines much like that exciting Bieber one in the example above. A big tip is to use lots of exciting punctuation like exclamation points!!! At least three is good. Another tip is to use capital letters to take up more screen space and therefore get more attention and real-estate on the Google search results page.

I’M BEING ATTACKED BY A BEAR!!!!!! Haha, jk. I got you again see. Now, with that last bit of inspiration go start writing INCREDIBLE EXCITING HEADLINES!!!
